Publication of CFPS County Level Data

To meet the needs of CFPS users while protecting the information security of respondents, the CFPS project office publishes the CFPS County‐Level Restricted Data and Enclaved Data to users in the form of restricted data.

County‐Level Restricted Data include countyid which can be linked to the CFPS public-use datasets, as well as each county’s GDP, per capita GDP, population, employment rate, average years of education, the proportion of the working-age population, proportion of the elderly population, sex ratio of population aged 10 to 19, non-agricultural population ratios in 2010. All values are blurred, with a random noise added to the actual values.

County‐Level Restricted Data special instructions:

1. No county names or standard administrative codes are included. Users cannot link the dataset with other administrative datasets. Users can only link the restricted-use county level data with other CFPS public-use data through countyid.

2. Variables in the restricted datasets are blurred by adding random noises to the actual administrative statistics. Users may refer to CFPS Technical Report 23 (in Chinese) for details.

3. The use of County‐Level Restricted Data should be applied with a restricted data application form. The user should include their research plan in the application, and the access will be granted only when the restricted data will fit the use of the research plan. Users may not use the data for purposes other than the stated research purposes.

If you need the County‐Level Restricted Data, please download the application document here.
